BRANDON, VT:

 

Steven Dale Spencer, age 61, passed away Saturday, February 29, 2020, at his home in Brandon.

 

Mr. Spencer was born in Elkins, West Virginia on November 1, 1958. He was the son of Walter and Shirley (Doyle) Spencer. He grew up in Warren (OH) where he received his early education. He graduated from Champion, (OH) High School, class of 1977.  He began his working career in a steel mill in Ohio. He later managed a restaurant in Warren, Ohio. He had worked as a supervisor for U. S. Steel for several years, before earning his Practical Nursing Degree from E.H.O.V.E. He had worked several years at Mercy Hospital in Vermillion, Ohio. For the past several years he has worked as a traveling nurse. He has been a resident of Brandon since 2015 moving here from Ohio. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hiking, traveling, sportscars and his Mustang.

 

He is survived by his wife; Bonnie (Mayer) Spencer of Brandon, 2 sons; William W. Spencer of Warren, OH and Alan F. Spencer of Poland, OH, 2 daughters; Mary Spencer of Cleveland, OH and Lillith Spencer of Aurora, OH, a brother; Robert Spencer of Ohio and 2 sisters; Karen Spencer and Shannon Spencer both of Warren, OH. 3 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him.

 

The memorial service “In Celebration of his Life” will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at 11 AM, at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. A private burial will take place, at a later date. A memorial service will be held in Warren, OH, at a future date and location, to be announced.

 

Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in his memory to; Rutland Area Visiting Nurse & Hospice, 7 Albert Cree Drive, Rutland, VT 05701, or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
