Rene Gille Quenneville, age 83, passed away, Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.

 

Mr. Quenneville was born in St. Isadora Ontario, Canada on September 21, 1935. He was the son of Romeo and Lucille (Laviolette) Quenneville. He moved with his family to Vermont in 1950. Rene married the love of his life; Lorraine (Goodspeed) in 1957. She predeceased Rene on December 19, 2017. In the earlier years he and his late wife had farmed in Whiting. He later owned and operated Quenneville Trucking, and hauled US Mail. He and Lorraine also owned and operated the local Gulf Station in Brandon for several years. He was a communicant of both St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Middlebury and in Brandon. He enjoyed watching wrestling and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He took great pride in caring for his property and driving his Kubota tractor. Rene’s love for his family and family gatherings was a real highlight of his life. He loved a good joke, telling stories of his many adventures, playing cards and enjoying his 5 o’clock drink with family and friends. His sense of humor and laughter will be greatly missed.

 

Surviving is his son; Mark Rene Quenneville and his wife Jennifer, 2 daughters; Cheryl and her husband Wesley Wheeler and Pamela Quenneville and her companion Todd Ross all of Brandon. He also leaves his grandchildren; Jodi Wheeler of Barre, Kristle Wheeler, Brandon, Craig Lonergan of Leicester, Tyler Quenneville of Pittsford and Shane Quenneville of Brandon and a great granddaughter; Adyson and a great grandson; Easton. Several nieces, nephews an uncle and cousins, and two sisters-in-law; Lillian and Barbara also survive him. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers; Roger Quenneville, Jean Guy Quenneville and Vincent Quenneville and his sister; Hughette Bordeleau-Brookman.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on November 3, 2018, at 10 AM, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brandon. The Rev. Maurice Moreau, pastor will be the celebrant. A private graveside committal service and burial will follow, in the family lot, at St. Mary’s Cemetery, in Brandon.

 

Following the ceremony, the family will receive friends at Brandon American Legion Post #55, for a time of remembrance.

 

There are no public calling hours.
