Josephine Arlene Hayden, age 80, died Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.


Ms: Hayden was born in Newport on April 9, 1937. She was the daughter of Edward R. and Alvira (Swartz) Hayden. She was a longtime Brandon resident and has lived in Rutland for the past 20 years. She enjoyed bingo and spending time with family. She especially loved the holidays complete with big family dinners.


Surviving is her sister; Dorothy Miner of Brandon and her longtime companion; Henry Weeks of Rutland. Several nieces and nephews also survive her. She was predeceased by her sister; Betty Jean Bennett and her only brother; Edward Charles Hayden and her close friend and companion; Leo Legault.


A private graveside committal service and burial will take place, at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Brandon. A Celebration of Her Life will also take place at a date and time to be announced.


Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in her memory to; the Rutland County Humane Society, 765 Stevens Road, Pittsford, VT 05763 or the Open Door Mission, 31 Park St. Rutland, VT 05701.


Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
