Wilda A. Harris, age 87, died Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at her home in Brandon.

Wilda was born in Leicester on January 24, 1928. She was the daughter of Frank and Rachel (Foley) Mussaw, Sr. She grew up in Leicester where she received her early education and was graduated from Brandon High School, Class of 1945. She began her working career as a bookkeeper for Bob Naylor at the General Mills Store on Rossiter Street in Brandon. She later worked as a bookkeeper for Rollers by Baker in Forestdale. She was elected Brandon Town Clerk & Treasurer in 1968. She served the town for 26 years, retiring in 1994. During her tenure for the town she had served on the Board of Civil Authority and had worked the polls for many years. She had been a member of the Brandon Garden Club and did volunteer work at the Brandon Free Public Library. Following her retirement she had worked as a substitute teacher at both Neshobe Elementary School as well as Otter Valley Union High School, retiring in 2014. She loved to travel and had visited England and Scotland, but preferred visiting her family in Wilsall, MT. She was an avid reader, loved animals and cooking; she had also appeared on PBS cooking show.

Surviving is her daughter; Janis Anderson and her husband Jay Dee of Wilsall, MT and her sister; Marie M. Strong of Albuquerque, NM, Grandson’s; Isaac Harris and his wife Alexia of Spring Valley, CA, and Jarvis Anderson and his wife Stephanie of Whitesboro, TX, great grandson, Alexander Harris and Great Granddaughters; Gracie and Jocelyn Anderson. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her. She was predeceased by her son, Gregory Paul Harris in February 2015, and 2 brothers; Oscar Mussaw and Frank Mussaw, Jr.

The memorial service “In Celebration of Her Life” will be held on Thursday, January 28, at 11 AM, at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. Following the ceremony the family will receive friends at Brandon American Legion Post #55, for a time of remembrance.

A private graveside committal service and burial will take place, at a later date in the family lot, at Pine Hill cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 27, from 4 until 7 PM.
