William Kenneth LaFountain, Jr. age 59 passed away Monday Sept. 16, 2024 in Rutland. He was born in Middlebury, Vt Dec. 24, 1964 the son of William K. and Winona (Barrows) LaFountain, Sr. He grew up in Addison County having lived in Monkton and New Haven where he received his early education, He attended High School at Mt. Abraham Union High School in Bristol. From there he enlisted in the Army National Guard from where he received his Honorable Discharge and afterwards continued his service with the Army Reserves. William worked as a heavy equipment operator having worked for Russell Construction, E.C.I Construction and Omya Corp. More recently he had worked as a Security Guard for the last 2 years at the Cortina Inn in Rutland.
William was a very active Hunter, Fisherman, and Racing Fan. He was proud of his gun collection and Dale Earnhardt collectables. He also was a volunteer for the Brandon Vol. Fire Dept and had served on the Brandon Police Dept. Cadet program. He was a member of the Brandon American Legion Post #55.
Surviving is his Father William Kenneth LaFountain, Sr. and his step-mother Judy , his son, William (Susan) K. LaFountain, III of Rutland, daughter, Heather LaFountain and her companion Nick Levins of Pittsford, 3 brothers, Robert and Brent LaFountain of Brandon and Adam LaFountain of Starksboro; 3 Sisters, Lisa Lee and Lucinda MacFarlane of Brandon and Leslie Kimball of Leicester. Step-Children, Jackie Martin and Larry Reynolds. 2 Adopted sisters, Vicki of Lincoln, VT and Jamie of CT. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins and his longtime friend, Andy Mitchell.
He was predeceased by his mother, Winona LaFountain on Sept.11, 2009
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday Sept.22, 2024 at 1PM at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home, Brandon. A reception will follow at the Brandon American Legion .
Calling Hours will be held Saturday Sept.21st from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home
Graveside Committal Services and burial with Military Honors will take place in the Farmingdale Veterans Cemetery, Middlebury at a later date.
