Timothy Seabury Hendel
1952 - 2026
Timothy Seabury Hendel of Bristol, Vermont, passed away peacefully in Middlebury on June 25, 2026 at the age of 73.
From early childhood, Tim’s life revolved around his artistic talent. He was considered a child prodigy, producing amazingly lifelike sketches of animals at age seven. He graduated with honors from the Paier School of Art in Hamden, Connecticut. Some of his work is part of the permanent collection at the prestigious New Haven Paint & Clay Club.
In 1985, Tim and his mother moved from New Haven, to Salisbury Vermont. He continued to produce many beautiful works of art, including the self-portrait rendered here. Across the years, his work was shown at various local exhibits, and he often could be seen painting landscapes alongside the rural roads of Vermont. Tim faced many challenges throughout his life with courage and determination. He was always friendly and respectful to all, and his gentle spirit will be greatly missed.
He was pre-deceased by his father and mother, James and Jane Hendel, and is survived by his brothers Robert, Peter, Christopher, and their families.
The family wishes to honor his memory in private at a later date.
We want to thank all of the people who have worked on behalf of Tim's care and well being over the past year, especially the staff of Helen Porter Nursing Facility, Bayada Hospice, and the Vermont Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living’s Office of Public Guardian.
