BRANDON:
Thelma Louise McK-Sunderland, age 92, passed away, Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
Thelma was born in Tinmouth on July 14, 1931. She was the daughter of William and Edith (Letcher) McIntyre. She married Arlyn Sunderland on August 30, 1980, at the Brandon Congregational Church. Mr. Sunderland predeceased her in a trucking accident. She worked at the Brandon Training School for 27 years, retiring due to the closing of the school in 1993. She afterwards worked for the Visiting Nurses, as a home health care aide for the next 7 years and continued workings for Easy Transition of Rutland, as a private care aide. She was a life member of Brandon American Legion Unit #55 Ladies Auxiliary, in which she held many offices. A life member of V.F.W. Post #648 in Rutland, the Eagles Post #1001 and the Loyal Order of The Moose Auxiliary also of Rutland. She belonged to Brandon Congregational Church.
Surviving are 2 daughters; Louise McKeighan of Brandon and Lana McKeighan of Arlington, 2 step-sons;, Ronnie Sunderland and Ricky Sunderland, 2 step-daughters; June Prouty and Janet Clark, 3 half-brothers; Ralph, William, and Malcolm and 3 half-sisters; Ruth, Judy and Merry, grandchildren; Thomasina, Danielle, Steve, Bill, Ed, A.J., Jerilyn, Justin, and their families, many great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her. In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by a son; Daniel Peter McKeighan, a daughter; Veronica McKeighan, her brother; Peter McIntyre., 2 sister’s; Melody Troy and Myrtle Hardy, and a step-son; Daniel James McKeighan.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 10 Am at the Brandon Congregational Church. The Rev. Sara Rossigg, pastor will officiate. Following the ceremony, the family will receive friends at Brandon American Legion Post #55, for a time of remembrance. The graveside committal service and burial will follow later that day at 3 PM, at Poultney Village Cemetery.
