ORWELL:

Paul Martin Patterson, age 74, passed away, March 12, 2024, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Paul was born in Orwell on February 12, 1950. He was the son of George and Rita (Jabot) Patterson. He grew up in Orwell where he received his early education and graduated from Shoreham Academy, class of 1968. Following graduation he joined the United States Army. He was Honorably Discharged in 1972 in Homestead, FL, were he remained for several years working for Withers Storage Company. Returning to Rutland for several years and then back home to Orwell. He began working at Midas in Rutland. He later joined the staff at Sto Industries in Rutland where he worked traveling to multiple corporate location to provide accurate sampling and product demonstrations for Sto Industries, until retiring. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, and good conversation. He had an ability to fix just about anything. He enjoyed maple sugaring and was a master sugar maker for years, boiling and filtering syrup with life long friends; Rob and Chrissy Barnes, and many years later with his son James. He very much enjoyed being in and around the sugarhouse.

Surviving is his son; James Paul Patterson of Poultney, two sisters; Shirley Hendricks and Ruth McGuire both of Orwell, 2 brothers; Thomas Patterson of Pickens, SC and Kenneth Patterson of Mt. Airey, NC, his three grandchildren; Ryan, Alyssa dn Dillon. Several nieces, nephews & cousins also survive him. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother David Patterson.

The graveside committal service and burial; with Military Honors; will take place, at a later date in Mountain View Cemetery in Orwell.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
