Nellie Ethel (Davis) Goeway

Nellie Ethel Goeway, age 87, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022, at her home in Ascutney.

Nellie was born in Randolph on July 2, 1935. She was the daughter of Nelson and Ethel (Southwick) Davis. August 28, 1954, she married Clifton Ralph Goeway in New Hampshire. They made their home in Benson on the farm for several years. She had worked at the Shoreham Apple Co-Op. She had also been employed by Dowty Electronics in Brandon. They moved to Florida in 1979 and returned to Vermont in 1994. She has been a resident of Ascutney since 2012. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Springfield. Nellie enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and quilting. She was proficient at beadwork and painting.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years; Clifton Goeway of Ascutney and one sister; Amy Quenneville of Leicester. She was predeceased by 3 brothers; Danie Davis, Nelson Davis and George Davis and 2 sisters; Abbye Bussear and Lillian Andrus.

The memorial service “In Celebration of Her Life” will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 11 AM, at the Springfield Church of Christ. Jamie Kurpiel, pastor will officiate. A private graveside committal service and burial will take place, at a later date in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph.

Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in her memory to; Springfield Church of Christ, 972 Chester Road, Springfield, VT 05156 or to a Humane Society of one’s choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
