BRANDON:
Michael J. Watters, passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side, after a long period of declining health on July 25, 2024 at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
Mike was born on December 31, 1948 to the late Lyle and Elinor (Lewis) Watters of Brandon. As a lifelong Brandon resident Mike attended schools locally and graduated from Otter Valley in the class of 1966. After high school he spent his working years at Standard Register in Middlebury as a press operator, but always continued to enjoy his hobbies - tinkering on cars, golfing, spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, you name it.
In his retirement he enjoyed telling stories and getting the town gossip at Ken Mohan’s, J.R.s and his other frequent hang outs around town.
He was the proud dad of his identical twin daughters Kelsey (Mike) and Hailey (Gary), and the best “Old Grandpa” to Kennedy, Shaw and Addyson. You could always find him supporting his girl's interest and cheering them on through all phases of life.
He is survived by his sister Ingrid, his daughters and their families, the mother of his children Barb Watters, and many other long time loyal and dedicated friends. He was predeceased by his parents.
A private graveside service and burial for the family will be held at a later date in the Forestdale Cemetery.
A celebration of life for friends and family will be held at the Brandon American Legion on Saturday August 24th from 1-3pm.
In lieu of flowers the family encourages you to “be like Mike” - lend a hand, tell a story, help a friend, or make a donation to the Brandon Area Rescue Squad or a charity near and dear to your heart.
His daughters also send a sincere thank you to his care team at RRMC, especially, Mary, Yulia, Lana and his PCU nurse team for their dedication and unwavering support until the very end.
Arrangements by Miller & Ketcham of Brandon.
