DANBY:
Michael Thomas Genier, age 80, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at his home in Danby.
Michael was born in Moriah, NY on August 9, 1943. He was the son of Henry and Margaret (Lesperance) Genier. He grew up in Moriah, NY and later in Silver Bay, Minnesota, where he graduated from high school, class of 1961. Following graduation, he joined the United States Navy. He was serving in Alaska during the 1964 earthquake, when he was injured and then medically discharged. He was a Master Electrician and had worked as an electrical inspector for Commonwealth Electrical Company in Plattsburg, NY. He has been a resident of Vermont since 2020, moving here from Moriah, NY. He enjoyed gardening and antiques.
He is survived by 3 sons; Christopher Genier of Leicester, Michael R. Genier of North Clarendon and Shawn Genier of Springfield, a special grandson; Kameryn Genier and his mother Vickie of North Clarendon. 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & cousins also survive him. He was predeceased by his wife; Minnie (Perry) Genier, a daughter; Lisa Kinslow, a son; Craig Genier, and 2 siblings; George and Brenda.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at 11 AM, at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral home in Brandon. Rev. Maurice Moreau, pastor of; Our Lady of Good Help Catholic Church will officiate. The graveside committal service and burial; with Military Honors; will follow the ceremony, at Pine Hill Cemetery, in Bradnon.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 29, from 10 AM until service time at 11 AM.
