Mary Mallory Foley of Fair Haven passed away peacefully on January 13,
2024 at Our House Outback in Rutland, VT where she resided for the
past few years. She was born in Fair Haven on May 31, 1932 to E. A. and
Marjorie (Crosby) Mallory. She leaves behind a brother, David Mallory
(Joby), and five children: Susan Foley Tillyer (Michael), Diana Ladd
(Allen, deceased), Judith Hurley (John), Kathleen Foley, and Michael
Foley (Jane). She was blessed with six grandchildren and 11 great-
grandchildren. She will be missed terribly and remembered for her
beautiful smile, strength, and adventurous spirit.
Mary married the love of her life, Paul Foley, Jr., in 1950 and shortly
after moved to North Carolina where Paul was stationed as an active
Marine. She loved that period of her life, and together, they made many
lasting friendships.
Following Paul’s honorable discharge from the military, they returned
to Fair Haven where they raised their five children. In later years, Mary
and Paul enjoyed traveling. After his passing in 1988, Mom continued
her passion for travel by visiting many special places with family and
friends.
Mary had a great fondness for the ocean and wintered in Myrtle Beach,
SC for almost two decades. She enjoyed an active social life with her
friends and church community.
God was important in Mary’s life. She was a dedicated congregant of Our
Lady of Seven Dolors in Fair Haven where she could be found most days
at daily Mass. She was also a long-time member of the Catholic
Daughters and the Fair Haven Historical Society.
Mary enjoyed reading and attended many functions at her local library.
In lieu of flowers, Mary wished for contributions to be made to the Fair
Haven Free Library. A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Seven
Dolors , Fair Haven on Friday May 31, 2024 at 11:00 AM . Private interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Fair Haven.
