John Fred Porter, SR. 85 passed away peacefully on Friday September 5, 2025 at Rutland Regional Medical Center Hospital. John was born on August 1, 1940 in Salisbury, Vt. He was the son of Fred and Marie (Parker) Porter. He entered the work force at a young age.John held many different jobs from Painting houses, changing tires at Abel’s to sawing logs at Clarks in Brandon and many other jobs, later   he loved working at Hayes Pallett until he retired.   John married Sylvia Currier in 1957 and had 3 children; Doris, John Jr. and Richard.

John was predeceased by his wife Sylvia in 2002 and his daughter in 2025.

John is survived by his son John Jr. (Margurette) of Pawlet, Richard (Tracey) of Danby, 5 Grandchildren and many Great grandchildren.  Also surviving is his partner Dorothy (Jean) Currier.

The graveside committal service and burial will take place  on Saturday Sept. 13, 2025 at  2 PM in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Cornwall, Vt.
