In Loving Memory of Gary David Hallett
December 11, 1947 – May 24, 2025
Gary “Poppa” David Hallett passed away on May 24, 2025, at the age of 77. Born in Middlebury, Vermont, raised in Brandon, and a current resident of Pittsford, Gary lived a life marked by quiet strength, fierce loyalty, and a deep love for his family.
He found joy in the simple things: hunting in the woods, casting a line into a quiet stream, discovering new places, and spending time with the love of his life, Inga L. King, his devoted wife of 57 years. Though he may have come across as rough around the edges, those who knew him best saw the man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
Gary was the son of Russell and Irene Hallett and brother of Ronald Hallett, Gail Barr, and Sharon Smith. In addition, Gary is survived by Inga; his three daughters, Amy Hill, Martha Keith, and Erin Fernsler; eight grandchildren including Mallory Gearwar who has been a steadfast support; and five great-grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, love, and generosity that will live on in every life he touched.
Per his wishes, there will be no public funeral service. A graveside committal and burial, at the Pine Hill Cemetery will be held Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 3 PM. The Rev. Bob Bove will officiate.
Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in his memory to; Rutland Area Visiting Nurse & Hospice, 7 Albert Cree Drive, Rutland, VT 05701 or to the Brandon Baptist Church, Brandon, VT 05733.
Arrangements made by Miller & Ketcham of Brandon.
