LEICESTER:
Frank William Nicklaw, age 76 (known to most as Bill), passed peacefully, due to cancer, on September 18, 2024, at his home in Leicester.
Bill was born in Middlebury on November 6, 1947. He was the son of Russell and Hazel (Tyler) Nicklaw. He grew up in Leicester where he received his early education and graduated from Otter Valley Union High School, class of 1965. Following graduation he completed, Heavy Equipment School in North Carolina. Returning to Vermont he began a career with standard Register in Middlebury. He retired as a supervisor in 2004 following more than 38 years of service. He also ran his own excavating business and owned and managed several rental properties, as well as working on the family farm, when needed.
Bill was a proud native Vermonter. He married Yvonne (Peggy) Smith in Leicester, on October 21, 1972. Together they restored one home and built a second. They raised 2 sons in Leicester; Rodney and Matthew. Bill was predeceased by his parents and 2 brothers; Richard and Harold and his son; Matthew. He is survived by his wife; Peggy, his son Rodney and his wife Melissa and the joy of his life, Kaylee, his granddaughter.
Frank attended the Leicester Church of the Nazarene, which was built in 1984. He was one of the builders along with his brother Harold and his wife Joan, and other parishioners. Bill had served there as an usher, board member and grounds keeper.
A memorial service “In Celebration of His Life” will take place, on October 5, 2024, at 11 AM, at the Leicester Church of The Nazarene. A reception will follow, in the church hall. He will be buried in the family lot, at Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is now with him.
