David Mallory Obituary

FAIR HAVEN:

David Crosby Mallory, 88, of Fair Haven, passed away the 29th day of January after a short illness. He was born August 17, 1937, the son of E. A. Mallory and Marjorie (Crosby) Mallory.  Dave worked with his father and mother for 25 years in the funeral home until 1979.  Then he ran the Mallory Furniture business until 1987. 

David was a member of the Vermont Funeral Directors' and Embalmers' Associations.  He was a long-time member of the Chamber of Commerce, Historical Society and was a 251 plus member. He was also one of the founders of Fair Haven Volunteer Rescue Squad, being a member for 12 years. David was also a lifetime member of the First Congregational Church U.C.C. of Fair Haven. He held offices in the Congregational Church as treasurer, trustee, Deacon, and a member at large for 30 years. He also ushered and still was at the time of his death. He was a member of Eureka Lodge #75 of Free & Accepted Masons, and was named Fair Haven Citizen of the year in 2011. He was a member of the founders of the Memorial Veteran Park that honors all the vets & wars. The Veteran's Park was finished in 1988. 

He was a trapper and hunter in his younger years. He was a NASCAR fan, for years and especially a Jeff Gordon fan.

David & Joby were co-chairs of the 100-year celebration of the Fair Haven High School and co-chair of the 200-year celebration of the town of Fair Haven.

David and his wife Joby traveled all over the world. Some of the places they visited are England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Spain, Rock of Gibraltar, Switzerland, Germany, and Paris. They also took many cruises through the Panama Canal, the inside passage in Alaska and many islands in the Caribbean.

David is survived by his wife Joby, and daughter Michelle Mallory and son Todd (Sharon) Mallory, grandsons Matthew Mallory and Codie (Alex) Morales, granddaughter Nichole (Cory) Fredette and great grandchildren Ben & Abby. 

He was predeceased by his parents and one sister Mary Foley. Several nieces, nephews & cousins also survive him. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be at Mt. View Cemetery in Orwell, VT.
