Cora Adrienne (Chartrand) Ethier

Cora Adrienne Ethier, age 101, passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at her home in Bridport.

Cora was born on the family farm in Whiting, on September 21, 1922. She was the daughter of John and Alberta (St. Denis) Chartrand. She grew up on the farm and received her education in local Whiting schools. In her earlier years she worked at Baker’s Appliance store in Brandon. She also had her own cleaning business for many years. November 26, 1942, she married Emery Ethier in St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Orwell. They first lived in Orwell, where their first child was born. After a short time in Burlington, they purchased their first farm in Salisbury. In 1952 they bought their farm in Bridport, where they have lived ever since. Emery predeceased her October 3, 2009. Cora always said she enjoyed her work and life on the farm.

She is survived by her children; Madeline Gardner & her husband Richard of Middlebury, Eugene Ethier & his wife Janice of Cornwall, Richard Ethier & his wife Karon of Braintree and Jeffrey Ethier & his wife Laura of Bridport, Grandchildren; Roxanne Gardner, Craig Gardner & his wife Tracy, Matthew Ethier, Nathan Ethier & his wife Chelsea, Jessie Ethier & his wife Rachel, Jason Ethier, Richard Ethier & his wife Pat, Sara Shaw & her husband Mike, Andrew Ethier and Nicholas Ethier, Many  great grandchildren, great,  great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and 2 sister-in-laws also survive her. In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by siblings; Jules, Herve, George, Gene, Roland, Lucienne, and Alice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 16, 2023, at 11 AM, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Middlebury. Rev. Luke Austin, pastor will be the celebrant. The graveside committal service and burial will follow, in the family lot, at St. Genevieve Cemetery in Shoreham.
