RUTLAND:
Carol Jean Burney passed away peacefully at Mountain View Genesis with her family by her side on June 12, 2026.
Carol was born in Rutland, VT on September 5, 1944 the daughter of Frances and Roland Burney Sr.
Carol was known for her spirited nature and quick wit. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures and her natural artistic abilities. She could be found crocheting, painting, coloring, or creating something special with her hands. She also enjoyed scratch off tickets and playing bingo!
She enjoyed dancing in her younger years as well as hiking and picnics at White Rocks with her family.
Carol leaves behind her sons, Raymond Patch and Marvin Patch Jr. as well as her three grandchildren Christopher, Devin, and Casey Patch.
She was born into a family of fifteen children. She leaves behind siblings; Judy Bourn, Norman Burney, Rollin Burney Jr, Jean McGovey and Joan Melvin .
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings; Darlene Alger, David Burney, Johnny Burney, Mike Burney, Russell Burney, Tommy Burney, Lorraine Lennox, Shirley Razonouski , and Virginia Shelvey as well as an infant son David.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mountain View Genesis for the kind and skilled care they have provided Carol.
To honor Carols wishes there will be no services.
