SUDBURY:

 

Benoni Simeon Griffin, age 79, died Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

 

Mr. Griffin was born in Rutland on April 3, 1939. He was the son of Benoni and Vivian (Dodge) Griffin, Sr. He grew up in Sudbury where he received his early education. He graduated from Brandon High School, class of 1957. He had served in the Vermont Army National Guard for six years and was honorably discharged as a Specialist 4th Class. He began his working career with the Town of Sudbury and later joined the staff at Howe Scale Company in Rutland, where he worked for over 20 years. He had been employed by Brandon Training School as a Boiler Operator until the school closed. He then transferred to the custodial staff at the Vermont Police Academy, for several years, retiring in 2004. He enjoyed his walks, was a history buff and loved mowing his lawn and caring for his property.

 

He is survived by two daughters; Annie Mary Bourque and her husband Roland of Barnstead, NH and Hazel Louise Pratt and her husband James of Sudbury, 2 sons; Roland Griffin and his wife Ronna of Brandon and Timothy Rolla Griffin of Rutland, a brother; Tom Griffin of Sudbury and his grandchildren; Justin, Colton, Keenan, Patrick, Houston, Essence, Wynn, Anissa, Allie, Ella and Skyler. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. He was predeceased by his sister; Louise Bedrosian and a brother; Allyn Albert Griffin.

 

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at 10 AM, at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. The Rev. Robert Bove, pastor of the Brandon Baptist Church will officiate. The graveside committal service and burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Willow Brook Cemetery in Sudbury.

 

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, September 14, from 5-7 PM.

I'm so sorry for your loss - I just found out. I met Ben & his brother Tommy when I worked at Sheri's Diner. I would look forward to seeing the both of them on a weekly basis. We became close & kept in touch thru cards since I moved away from Brandon years ago. My heart is broken. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and especially Tommy.
