MIDDLEBURY:

 

Edward Allen “Eddie” Gee, age 75, died Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.

 

Mr. Gee was born in Middlebury on June 8, 1941. He was the son of Albert and Phyllis (Hutchins) Gee. He grew up in Hancock and Rochester, where he received his early education, and was graduated from Rochester High School, class of 1960. He moved with his family to Whiting where he worked on the family farm. In 1962 he joined the United States Army but was honorably discharged following the death of his father in 1963. He afterwards served 22 years in the Vermont Army National Guard, from which he retired in 1986. He had worked in the custodial department at Middlebury College for 5 years, and at Standard Register for another 5 years. He later was employed, in the food service departments, at both Porter Hospital and Helen Porter Nursing Home. He belonged to the Middlebury Masonic Lodge. He also belonged to Cairo Temple Shrine in Rutland, where he was a long time member of the Northern Clowns Unit. He had also been a member of the Middlebury Lions Club. He loved music and enjoyed collecting records.

 

Surviving is his brother; Bruce Gee of Ira, 2 sisters; Ellen Kimball of Whiting and Edna Miller of Middlebury. Several nieces, nephews & cousins also survive him. He was predeceased by his parents.

 

The graveside committal service and burial, with military honors, will take place on August 13, 2016, at 10 AM, at the family lot in Pine Hill cemetery in Brandon.

 

Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in his memory to; The Shriners Children’s Hospital, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

I am so sorry to hear about my old roommate Eddie passing. It is so sad. I wish I had kept in touch longer than I did.
