Ralph Buckland Dewitt, Jr, age 71, passed away Monday, February 24, 2020, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.


Mr. Dewitt was born in Middlebury on March 13, 1948. He was the son of Ralph and Mildred (Adams) Dewitt, Sr. He grew up in Brandon where he received his early education. He graduated from Otter Valley Union High School, class of 1966. Following graduation, he began his working career at White Pigment Corporation in Florence. He retired in 1998; following 33 years of service; as assistant foreman of the milling department for OMYA. In his earlier years he enjoyed water skiing and camping. He also liked doing mechanical work on snowmobiles and 4 wheelers. He had helped many children over the years.


He is survived by his sister; Flossie McLaughlin & her husband Tom of Brandon, his niece Amy Munger & her husband Scott and 2 nephews; Tom “T.P.” McLaughlin and Jason McLaughlin all of Brandon. He was predeceased by his parents.


The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at 10 AM, at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. The Rev. William Bartholomew, pastor of the Brandon Congregational Church will officiate. The graveside committal service and burial will take place, at a later date, in Pine Hill cemetery in Brandon.


Friends may call, at the funeral home on Friday, February 28, from 2-4 PM.

Sending my condolences to Ralph's entire family at this time. He was a good guy and friend since childhood. May he rest peacefully.

We spent some wonderful times with Ralph at the Legion, his home and at our home. Such a thoughtful and caring person he was. Will miss his witty remarks and most of all, his friendship. R.I.P. dear friend.
