Joyce Lorraine Jackson, age 83, died Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

 

Mrs. Jackson was born in Bangor, ME, on April 25, 1936. She was the daughter of George and Lorraine (Lee) Merrill. She grew up in Bangor (ME) where she received her early education and graduated from Bangor high school, class of 1954. January 8, 1955, she married Paul A. Jackson in Bangor, ME. They travelled the country in pursuit of Mr. Jackson’s degree in the ministry. They moved to Leicester from Colorado Springs, CO, following Mr. Jackson’s graduation. She then became a minister’s wife, as her husband pastored the Leicester Church of The Nazarene. In her earlier years she worked as a switch board operator for a local Maine telephone company. She had also worked in Vermont as a switch board operator for a local hospital. She was a church pianist. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting and knitting.   

 

She is survived by 3 daughters; Candice Barrett of Lisbon Falls, ME, Beth Cole of Leicester and Paula Roy of Brunswick, ME, 2 sons; George Jackson of Helena, MT and Timothy Jackson of Brandon and her brother; Edward Merrill of Bangor, ME. 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her. She was predeceased by her husband Rev. Paul A. Jackson, a daughter; Amy Chase and her sister; Janice Merrill-Archer.

 

The memorial service “In Celebration of Her Life” will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019, at 10 AM, at the Furnace Brook Wesleyan Church, Forest Dale Campus. The Rev. Barry Tate will officiate.

 

Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in her memory to; the Brandon Area Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 232, Brandon, VT 05733.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

I am so so very sorry on the lost of your mother, grandmother great grandmother. she was a great lady whom I will miss so very much!!! She was an inspiration to many of us at church!! My heartfelt thanks that she was a blessing in so many lives. l
