Irene Esther Hallett, age 94, died Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at her home in Brandon.

 

Mrs. Hallett was born in Sudbury on October 15, 1924. She was the daughter of Arthur and Marion (Griffin) Mallory. She grew up in Sudbury where she received her early education and graduated from Brandon High School, class of 1942. December 15, 1942, she married Russell Frederick Hallett in Castleton. She lived at Camp Polk, LA for 2 years while her husband served in Europe during WW II. They came to their home on Maple Street, in Brandon in 1945, where they raised their family. Mr. Hallett predeceased her March 6, 2011. She had worked, for many years, as a cashier for the local A & P Grocery and later at the I.G.A. store in Brandon. She retired in 1980. She was a member of the Brandon Congregational Church.

 

Surviving is her son; Gary D. Hallett of Brandon, 2 daughters; Sharon Smith and Gail Barr both of Oakhill, WV, 2 brothers; Arthur Mallory, Jr of Agawam, MA and Donald Mallory of Paradise, PA, 3 sisters; Viola Posmanter of Rutland, Reta Holt of Rochester, NY and Eleanor Zawistowski of Rutland, a step-sister; Grace Bird of Forest Dale and a step-brother; Gerald DeLancey of Sudbury. 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 5 great, great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins also survive her. In addition to her husband she was also predeceased by a son; Ronald Hallett, a brother; Gordon Mallory, a sister; Ruth Westcom and 3 step-brothers; Lorillard DeLancey, Gordon DeLancey and Norman DeLancey.

 

A private graveside committal service and burial took place, on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, in the family lot, at Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
