Mahlon Persy McCoy, age 69, died Thursday, December 27, 2018, at his home in Brandon.


Mr. McCoy was born in Salisbury on April 22, 1949. He was the son of Alton and Mamie (Peer) McCoy. He grew up in Salisbury where he received his early education. In his earlier years he did farm work. He enlisted In the United States Army in 1969 and served in Viet Nam. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and worked at Ray Riley’s Tire. He later worked at Rutland Plywood and Vermont Tubbs. He was forced to retire due to illness in 2008. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working on cars. He loved watching John Wayne Western’s and MASH.


Surviving is his wife; Joyce Marie (Cram) McCoy of Brandon; whom he married May 31, 1969, in Weathersfield, 3 sons; Mahlon B. McCoy of Rutland Town, Parker A. McCoy of Brandon and Alton C. McCoy of Brattleboro, 2 daughters; Robin M. Boyea of Mineville, NY and Sadie E. Mason of Fair Haven and 1 brother; Louis McCoy of Enfield Center, NH. 22 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & cousins also survive.


The funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at 1 PM, at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon, Where friends may pay their respects, on Sunday, from 11 AM until service time at 1 PM.


Following the ceremony, the family will receive friends, at Brandon American Legion Post #55, for a time of remembrance.


Entombment will follow the service at Pine Hill Cemetery Receiving Vault. The graveside committal service and burial, with Military Honors; will take place, at a later date in Pine Hill Cemetery.
