Beatrice Marjorie Shaw, age 70, died Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.


Mrs. Shaw was born in Rutland on June 27, 1948. She was the daughter of James and Marjorie (Rivers) Burke. She grew up on the family farm in Clarendon and received her early education in local Clarendon Schools. She had worked for several years at Tambrands in Rutland and later at the Vermont Country Store. She had also worked as an elder care aide for several area families. She enjoyed crafts, knitting, bluegrass music and camping.


Surviving is her long-time companion; Reginald Gibeault of Clarendon, one son; Eric Prescott of Wallingford, 3 sisters; Margaret Grenier of Mt. Holly, Jean Heir of Fair Haven and Judi Daley of Mt. Holly, 4 brothers; Louis Burke of Rutland, Wayne Burke of Barre, Thomas Burke of Milton and Raymond Burke of Rutland. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews & cousins also survive her. She was predeceased by her parents, a daughter; Fonda Salls, a son; Albert Prescott, Jr, a great granddaughter and several brothers and sisters.


The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at 1 PM, at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. The Rev. Maurice Moreau, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church will officiate. A private graveside committal service and burial will follow, in Pine Hill Cemetery.


Following the ceremony, the family will receive friends at Brandon American Legion Post #55, for a time of remembrance.


Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday, from 11 AM until the time of the service.
