Diantha Joan Holmes, 76, of Old State Road, Broadalbin passed away peacefully Wednesday morning November 14, 2018 at St. Mary’s Healthcare, Amsterdam.

     Joan was born in Rutland, Vermont on February 27, 1942 to Reginald and Freda Euber Disorda and was the oldest of nine siblings.

     She was a 1961 graduate of Brandon High School in Vermont, which was the last graduating class before the relocation to Otter Valley High School.

       Joan was originally a resident of Argyle, NY and operated her business, “Joan’s Traveling Comb”, from her home.  She provided traveling hair and beauty services for several years before moving to Corinth, NY with her husband, Robert Holmes.  Joan worked as a teacher’s aide at the Ballston Spa School District.  She moved to Broadalbin, NY in 2014 to be closer to family.

     Joan enjoyed shopping, swimming, good food, gardening, and dancing.  She was an animal lover and was always fond of spending time with the children of the family, as well as her younger sister, Martha.

     She was predeceased by her husband, Robert; her parents, Reginald and Freda Disorda; a brother, Robert “Bob” Disorda; a nephew, Reginald “GeGe” Disorda; her loving canine companion, Kissy; and a special friend, John Horan.

     Joan is survived by her daughter, J. Kelly Flewelling of Broadalbin, NY; her brothers and their families, Reginald and Peg Disorda, George and Judy Disorda, David and Arlene Disorda, Ronnie and Lana Disorda,  and Scott and Rita Disorda; two sisters, Becky Conway and Martha and Charles Wright; a granddaughter, Jessica and her husband Jeremiah Benoit of Broadalbin, NY and their children, Rylee, Carter, and Jonas; a grandson, Ralph “PJ” Flewelling III and his partner Nikki Howe of Hartford, NY and their children, Robert, Samantha, Damien, and Derrik; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

       A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at noon at the Forestdale Cemetery, Brandon, Vermont where she will be buried with her loving parents.  A celebration of life will follow at the Brandon American Legion.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Brennan Memorial Humane Society or to the American Heart Association, both in care of the funeral home.  Arrangements are by the Robert M.
