Jeanne Ann LaPorte, age 81, died Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at the University Of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.

 

Mrs. LaPorte was born in Rumford, Maine on December 17, 1935. She was the daughter of Raymond and Mary (Bourgeois) Hiltz. She grew up in Portland, ME where she received her education. She moved with her family to Bristol, CT, where she worked at Engram Clock Company in Bristol. She had also worked as a nurse’s aide in Portland, ME and Bristol, CT. Most recently she had worked at Lathrop Camps on Lake Dunmore. In her earlier years she had played Bass Guitar and Accordion in a local Portland, ME band. She loved animals and was an accomplished artist in both oil and pastel’s.

 

Surviving is her husband; Allen George LaPorte of Leicester; whom she married on September 26, 1982, 2sons; William E. Fitzgerald, Sr of Naugatuck, CT and Robert W. Fitzgerald, Sr of Portland, ME, a step-son; Richard LaPorte of Chittenden, 2 step-daughters; Sharon Freeze of Rutland Town and Mary Guggenberger of North Clarendon, a brother; Robert Hiltz of Arizona and a sister; Jo Ann Wilcott of California. 8 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 7 step-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her. She was predeceased by her parents, a brother Robert Hiltz and 2 sisters; Shirley Hubbard and Joyce Heatley.

 

The graveside committal service and burial will take place, on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 10 AM, at Brookside Cemetery in Leicester. Pastor Bruce Wilkinson of the Bristol Seventh Day Adventist Church will officiate.

 

Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in her memory to; Addison County Home Health & Hospice, P.O. Box 754, Middlebury, VT or to Addison County Humane Society, 34 Boardman Street, Middlebury, VT 05753.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
